As previously posted, we left San Diego on Friday, July 29th, drove 700 miles to Gallup, New Mexico, and then on Saturday drove up into the Denver area of Colorado.

| On the road again - our first long drive in weeks |
Interestingly (perhaps only to me), as we drive across these hundreds of miles of road, I am constantly struck by the vistas and the vastness of the land. Patty is particularly struck by the unique shapes and forms of clouds in the sky. Fortunately, there was plenty of both to be experienced on this road trip.

| Hey what are those? We hadn't seen overcast skies or rain in a month! |
Our destination in Colorado was Highlands Ranch, to visit some friends who had recently moved there from Chicago. Just driving around the area provided majestic views of the Rocky Mountains. Such a change from the flatness of the Midwest. It was an unfortunately brief weekend visit, but it was great to catch up, and the kids also had fun (and of course went to a pool again).
We'll have to head back to Colorado soon.
