On Sunday night, we drove the hour or so to the LA area. We're staying with my uncle and aunt until the end of the week. On Monday, we were able to do something that the kids had been anticipating the whole trip. My uncle has a number of fruit trees in his backyard, and the kids were looking forward to picking oranges. My uncle had left one tree unharvested, saving it for our arrival. I was amazed at the number of oranges in it:
I think there's enough for everyone...
This was a total pose. She needed both arms and all her strength to get an orange loose.
This is her pulling with both arms
Abby picking with the fruit picking rod
This is Josiah carrying a box with some grapefruit in it. He's stronger than he looks
Emma proudly showing me the grapefruit she had picked
The big ballroom where the kids have been reading, playing...
and of course dancing.
On Monday evening, Emma got to celebrate her birthday again, belatedly.
Was the cake off limit to Josiah ? ( poor thing !)
ReplyDeleteFinally Josiah to his delight finds an enormous wooden floor to skid his cars. What a treat. Yap, he is stronger than he looks, the basket looks almost bigger than "wing-span" of his out-stretched arms; happily he walked with it !
Using fruit-picking rod--Abby was born not a laborer.
