Day one of our 2018 road trip felt like it went by quickly despite the driving variety. There were a number of sections (over a hundred miles) of one lane construction on both I-88 and I-80. We drove through heavy rains, then beautiful clear sunshine, back to rain, and then back to blue skies. Like our first day in 2016, we made only one stop (for gas & restrooms) over the 500+ miles we traveled today.
Both Patty and I were pretty wiped out from our preparations the past few days & nights, so we were glad to reach our destination early, around 4pm. We went out to dinner, swam in the pool, and now that we're all washed up, it's time for bed for the whole family.
We'll try and get an early start tomorrow, since we have a stop or two planned. Goodnight!
