Sea World

On Tuesday July 26th, we went to Sea World. There were lots of shows to see, and a variety of rides, in addition to the aquarium type exhibits. We started with the dolphin show:

Since it is encouraged to get to shows early to get better seats, there ended up being a lot of time sitting in the sunshine. We borrowed these hats from our friends here in San Diego. We sat in the "soak zone" of the stands. Due to the heat, we would have welcomed getting splashed, but we were disappointed with the dolphin splashes. We stayed dry.
This was not a dolphin. A bottle nose whale maybe? Josiah will remember
We had front row seats for the Sea Lion (and otter) show.
The Sea Lion show was my favorite of the day, though my favorite part was the pre-show where a guy dressed as a janitor sprayed unsuspecting audience members, and then did a series of nostalgic 80's dance routines.

As a souvenir, we had a caricature artist draw our family. Emma was first.
Patty and I were somewhat mixed on the final result. I don't have a picture of it, but if you come over, to our house, remember to ask to see it.

Mommy and Abby

This Atlantis ride was a mix of water ride and roller coaster. It was Josiah's first roller coaster. Not sure he liked it all that much.
This is Patty with about a dozen "cleaner" fish nibbling her hand.

Shamu?
The final show we saw was the "Shamu" show with killer whales. It was kind of like the dolphin show, but with a much larger tank, since these whales were very impressive in size. By this point I was somewhat pessimistic about getting splashed, even though we were well within the "soak zone." But the orca whales were up to the challenge, and we did get one good refreshing splash.
