Rewind: More Maui - Day 4

Friday morning, some of the more adventurous cousins (mostly our kids' second cousins) took a surf lesson in the morning. I took over a thousand pictures, trying to get some good ones. I won't post any of them here, but here's an exciting animated gif I made out of a series of photos.

The aggressor is a Canadian second cousin. the near-victim is my niece Cassie.
One stop that was recommended for us was Ululani's Shave Ice.

We went there on Firday afternoon, and while I browsed an ABC souvenir store with the kids, Patty waited in the hot sun for about 30 minutes to order the shave ice... and it was worth it (easy for me to say). Patty's brother went on another day, and waited 45 minutes, I think. Since there are many shave ice vendors all around Maui, we wondered if there really was a difference. We tried an alternate one closer to our lodging on Saturday, and were sorely disappointed. Ululani's was clearly superior. Patty can give her detailed analysis if she wants.

Note all the people still waiting in line
On Friday evening of the family reunion, we gathered for a nice dinner. Everyone dressed up (nice for Hawaii, anyway), and it made a good occasion for taking group (and family photos). Dinner was wonderful, and concluded with another spectacular Maui sunset.
