Rewind: Leaving Maui

On Sunday, 7/10, we said goodbye to Maui, but not yet to Hawaii.

Maui Airport
Since we had traveled all the way out to Hawaii, we couldn't miss the opportunity to visit a good friend of mine from high school, who had settled in Oahu with his wife around 6 years ago.
Short flight to Oahu
Maui from the plane
Pearl Harbor (I think), also from the plane
Oahu was nice, but Honolulu was obviously much more congested and urban than Maui. Did you know that Honolulu has the 2nd worst traffic in the country, after Los Angeles?
More pool time at my friend's house
My friend Ken, with his younger son
Our kids, with Ken's 2 boys
The whole gang, minus Patty, who was taking the picture

We only needed a hotel for one night, and before our trip, I had booked a good deal on a place near the airport. It turned out to be kind of "sketchy," located in a semi-industrial area, with an older motel-like feel. Evidently it was once used in an episode of the modern Hawaii 5-O. Anyway, apart from our initial impressions, it was fine, No sunset view though.
