Moab, Utah

This will be another picture-heavy post, since I'm the one posting. So yesterday was thankfully a light driving day, though it was still quite a full day; the most exhausting, in my opinion. But a wonderful one nonetheless.

After setting out, we were quickly greeted with these signs close together:

Thankfully, we were able to check in early to our hotel, and the kids had a blast as we settled in:

They also finished their Sticky Mosaic pictures:

Then we head into Arches National Park. I can see why the entrance fee is a 7-day pass, as there is no way you can do Arches in a day. And while Ben said that we "only" spent three hours there, three hours is a pretty long time for the kids. We were still able to see quite a bit, albeit on a fast-track.

Some photos of Park Avenue:

A little lizard

called "The Tower of Babel"

"Three Gossips" in the center, and "Sheep Rock" to its right

Abby said, "Hey, it's a person! It looks like one person standing, wearing a snow hat."

I dubbed this "Rabbit playing the drums"

"Balanced Rock"

A not-so-great-balancing of the rock.

storm clouds with sun peeking in the distance

"North and South Windows"

North Window

view through the North Window

Cove of Caves

The most famous arch, "Delicate Arch".

For some reason, Delicate Arch didn't seem particularly impressive, but maybe it's because we were too far away to appreciate it, and were scrambling to squeeze it in before heading out of the park.

Can you see the train?

A faint rainbow in the distance after the rain.

These photos were taken at Dead Horse Point State Park:

peek-a-boo!

Emma said, "Mommy, I see a little sun like a fire."

One the way back to our hotel, Josiah said, "The National Parks were pretty cool." Really??? With all the whining about wanting to go back to the car, wanting to go back to the hotel, not wanting to get out of the car, etc?? He said, "Well, it wasn't VERY interesting, but it was kind of cool." He did marvel at the Dead Horse viewpoint, commenting on all the colors and how beautiful it was. So I guess there was some appreciation. :)

With that, we are heading to Vegas today. And a big Happy Birthday to our dear Emma, and our 3-yr-old friend, Mr. Robert Burns!

  1. Keep those "grand canyon"-like shots coming. Maybe we'll have to finally take a trip out there sometime, too (but I'm still not driving out there from Naperville). Happy Birthday, Emma! Give her a hug for me. Got to go see my next patient. Steve K.

the "peek-a-Boo" photo of Abby is NICE thought.
"Three gossips"? is that Ben's creation too ?
